Pacific Steel & Recycling now offers drops for any imaginable container. They accept plastic bottles, magazines, cardboard, paper waste. In addition to the drops they offer cash from scrap metal such as aluminum cans, copper, brass, steel, and other scrap metal. Two full grocery bags of aluminum cans will pay about $3, enough to recoup the fuel costs for recycling. If you have the motivation you could potentially start a neighborhood aluminum can pickup.
Most grocery stores have a bin, near the entrance, where you can recycle used plastic sacks. I find that plastic store sacks make convenient storage receptacle for cans, plastic bottoms, small waste bins, and for sealing up diapers.
